Download Shockwave

Windows/Internet Explorer
1 Go to the Shockwave Download Center and click Auto Install Now.
2 Click through the dialog boxes that appear.
3 When both the Shockwave 7 and Flash Player movies begin playing, your Shockwave installation is successful.

Windows/Netscape

1 Go to the Shockwave Download Center and click Download Now. Choose the directory where you want to save the Shockwave Installer and click Save.

Write down the name of the file you are downloading as it appears in the Save As... dialog box, or use the "Find..." command to locate the file for step 2.

Note for Windows 95 customers running Novell network software: The Novell software shortens the Shockwave Installer filename after you download it. For example, "Shockwave Installer.exe" will become "!Shockwa~.exe". The Shockwave Installer still works with this shorter filename.

2 Quit your browser and double-click the Shockwave Installer icon. Choose the Shockwave-compatible browser you want to install Shockwave into and click Continue. The installer relaunches your browser and opens to the Shockwave Download Center to complete the installation.
3 Click through the dialog boxes that appear. When both the Shockwave 7 and Flash Player movies begin playing on the Web page, your Shockwave installation is successful.

Macintosh/Netscape or Internet Explorer

1 Go to the Shockwave Download Center and click Download Now. Choose the browser you want to use with Shockwave and click Install.

When the download is complete, find the Shockwave Installer on your desktop. If it is not on your desktop, use the Finder's "Find..." command to locate "Shockwave".

Note: If you find a compressed file with the extension ".sea.hqx" but no Shockwave Installer file, you may not have the necessary helper applications to decompress software downloads. Get Stuffit Expander from the StuffIt Expander page and then use it to decompress the ".sea.hqx" file.

2 Quit your browser and double-click the Shockwave Installer icon.Choose the Shockwave-compatible browser you want to install Shockwave into and click Continue. The installer relaunches your browser and opens to the Shockwave Download Center to complete the installation.
3 Click through the dialog boxes that appear. When both the Shockwave 7 and Flash Player movies begin playing on the Web page, your Shockwave installation is successful.

Troubleshooting

If you installed Shockwave, but the movies at the Shockwave Download Center page do not work, check the following:

1 Make sure you have a Shockwave-compatible browser.
2 Make sure you have only one copy of your browser installed and that the copy you installed Shockwave into is the same copy you are using to browse the Web.
3 If you are running a 16-bit version of your browser with Windows 95, you will receive an error stating "Could not load plug-in". This is common with subscribers of earlier versions of America Online and Compuserve. Download the Windows 3.1 version of Shockwave from the "Need a different Web Player?" link in the step 1 column and install it.
4 For other problems, ask the Virtual Technician.
